the rules
I know, no one enjoys reading them but we need them so you will follow them and respect them. Remember, by signing up and roleplaying on Explorers of Aestus you are agreeing to these terms and punishments that will occur due to failure to comply to them.
001. Respect everyone from a staff member to fellow roleplayer to a guest. Be patient and don't pressure other members for posts or graphics. Remember, they have lives too! No hating, no swearing directed at members, no flaming, no sexism, racism or any "ism", none of it. None of it will be accepted and you will be punished, if not banned, for doing any of those.
002. Be patient and do not pressure anyone for anything from approving an app to making a post or graphic etc.
003. We are one account per character site. Just keep everyone active, please and thank you!
004. Here at EOA we expect some literacy. We expect you to use proper spelling and grammar etc. We are not grammar freaks, we just enjoy when people can actually write. Use your brain and make your posts creative and not super boring. Please.
005. IC swearing is allowed but don't use it every other word. It must not be directed at another member. OOC swearing is allowed but keep it minimal. We don't want people to think we are a bunch of potty mouths!
006. All accounts that do not make a post within 1 week will be deleted. This is due to the amount of spam accounts that pile up on a site. (People who sign up and never post.) Even posting a WIP application counts! The only exception is if you are away and have posted to tell us so.
007. If you are going away for any reason please tell us about it in the absence board. If we notice you go inactive and do not return within a week then we will email you directly to see what is going on. If you do not return then we will move your characters to archives. Your characters, posts etc can all be retrieved by asking an admin nicely.
008. Fighting OOC will not be tolerated on the site. Keep it off the site or we will keep you off the site.
009. Advertisements go in the advertising boards and no where else. You may have an ad our link in your signature or profile but don't post about it anywhere else except for those boards.
001. There is a character application already made for you. We prefer that you do not edit it in any way, shape or form. Fill it out and post it. If it is incomplete then please put WIP somewhere in the title. It helps us know what ones are complete and aren't.
002. Try to make every character realistic and unique. No one is perfect so no perfect beings. Perfection is boring, insanity is interesting. Try and mix it up, give one of them a disability or something!
003. Do not steal other people's work from here or any other site. It is completely wrong and if you are caught doing it you will be banned.
004. All characters must be accepted before you begin playing them. Once a staff member accepts your character you can begin roleplaying. If we don't accept your character then read our hints and tips that we leave you. Do not PM any staff members and ask for us to accept your application. We will get there but we have lives too. Most are accepted within 24 hours so please wait.
005. This is a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Site. For those who are unfamiliar with the canon, this universe takes place in a world where only Pokemon exist. The technology and agriculture fit the nature of a Pokemon society, and thus humans don't exist. For this reason, there's no purpose for there to be any Pokemorphs if humans don't exist. The only kind of characters here are Pokemon. So please make Pokemon characters.
007. If you want to start as a Pichu, great! Oddish? Awesome! Jigglypuff? Um... no. All Pokemon have to start at their lowest stage at Level 5. They can start with any moves they would naturally learn, and one Egg move, but that's it. No, you can't start off as a Pikachu. You'll have to evolve into a Quilava, and if you want one of the Eeveelutions, you'll have to start as an Eevee. The good news? Depending on the rules each individual Pokemon has, there's no reason why they can't evolve when the requirements are met! This will be explained in full detail in another thread.
008. There isn't any character limit. Have as many characters as needed or wanted, but again, each character has to have at least one post per month. If you can do that with fifty characters, great. But if you can barely handle five, maybe adding a sixth one isn't a good idea..
009. Once accepted make sure to post your character's name in the taken name/Pokedex thread. This helps us from getting duplicates of the same name, which causes confusion.
010. Just because someone's character hates you does not mean that member hates you. Remember, it is a roleplay and what happens IC stays IC.
011. Shiny Pokemon must be earned through a site contest or competition. You can not just make one.
012. Explorers and Outlaws are allowed to make teams. A different thread will be made with more information on this.
001. The word minimum is 50 words. This is not very much, and we would love it if you gave more, but you need to at least give other people something good to respond too. Certain threads may have a more inclined word count, such as plot fights.
002. Please, please, please! Use common sense when you're interacting with other characters. Interacting with others is always encouraged, but please consider the golden rule. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. We're here to have fun, and this is the fastest way to ruin that fun.
God-Modding: Controlling another person's character without the consent of the other player.
Example: Joe the Pikachu grabs Cyndy the Pidgey and unleashes a Thunder attack. The Pidgey squawks in pain as she is engulfed in a critical hit. Cyndy fainted.
Okay, now where's the fun in that? Sure, Pikachu has a type advantage, but there is no creativity in forcing a win that way. This didn't even give the other player a chance to respond. Another thing, the only ones that can say that a character fainted is either the player who made the character, or a staff member. Either way, there can't be any bias to one side or the other in sense of rping. Yes, a Pidgey has a disadvantage, but it still should have a fair chance to win. Another no no is constantly dodging attacks. That is also considered God-Modding, and is frowned upon. Your character isn't invincible.
Meta-Gaming: Characters magically know information that they shouldn't know, and/or they know people they shouldn't know.
Example: Joe the Pikachu explained Kyogre's sacrifice in surprising detail that no one else knew.
Okay, so there's this line in the center of a plane. One side of that plane seats OOC interactions, and the other side is ICC interactions. Yes, I will say, sometimes these things can, and will, meet in the middle. This one can be a bit of a challenge at times because if enough time passed between posts, you may forget when your characters know and what you know. But that doesn't make it any less fun ruining when someone can magically know everything about a character or a situation. Your character can assume things based on certain facial expressions or body language, but this depends on what their personality is. Just try to stay in character, trust me, they don't know everything.
003. Liquid time is allowed. There is no set limit right now but try not to have your one character in like 10 different places. Be realistic with it.
004. When a thread is done put [Finished] in the title so we can lock it and store it.
001. No spamming the c-box. Spamming is when you post more than 3 times in a row. Don`t do it, or we will eat you.
002. No advertising, no trolling, no impersonating, no insults, no racism or any ism, no fighting and no chat speak. Brb, lol, lmao etc are all appropriate but no "c u l8r" or anything like that is allowed. We should have all passed the 6th grade by now so please, type properly. Fighting leads to both parties being punished if it doesn't stop.
003. Listen to the staff members while in the c-box.
004. You can be banned from the c-box. We have a premium c-box so don't think we won't delete or ban you.
